ENS - English
Greetings!
Welcome to the ENS foundation website. We are a independent Dance platform for dance with a dance company. Founded in 2014.
The dance industry is rotten from the inside out.
The best quality works of art, from paintings to candy to internal design, come from artists who love their craft. The dance industry has evolved away from artistic development. Each year its increasingly dominant that businesses driven by impersonal development processes are the new standerd rather than a dedication to, love for and understanding of the craft. There are no signs that this trend will reverse.
Soon, you can no longer go to a dance performance to see dance as the main feature of a show. Only bigger more extravagant multi-disciplinary performances will remain where dance is on the sidelines, if its still present. But is this the end of dance? Absolutely not!
There are many things to come.
Dance can be much more powerful experiences than they are today. We have only scratched the surface in terms of emotional content, interaction, presentation, meaning and the relationship to the social discourse. Make no mistake: Expanding the scope of our art is the most important challenge for the upcoming century of the dance industry.
The larger dance industry is clearly not fit to meet these challenges. Dedicated, independent dance companies and choreographers can. We can take risks, follow our unique visions, we value art above business. But right now, the few independent developers that are out there are rarely doing anything substantially different from the bigger dance company's and the dance industry.
We are here to change things.
I founded Stichting ENS to help redefine the nature of independent dance development. Our company is based on devotion of art in dance, the desire to expend the conventional perception of what a dance company can become. To this end, we adhere a strict set of guiding principles.
This is ENS in a nutshell.
Thanks for visiting our website. You can see video's, pictures, read about projects and check our news. Share this and help us with our goal to make dance great again.

- We are dedicated to making dance of the highest level of quality with all the possibility's we have. Each performance must be unique, intelligent, engaging and beautiful. If a production lacks any of these traits we won't perform it.
- We only work on one project at a time. If we did not believe a performance was worth our full and undivided attention, we wouldn't be dancing it at all.
- We do not permit any artistic limitations to be imposed on our development process. If we work with a publisher/ fund/ stage. We will not accept any contract or requirement which we believe could limit our artistic options. By extension, we do not accept any advertisement on our website, platforms, social media or performances, as their presence necessarily constitutes a decision which was not made solely for the good of the dance.
- We are fully independent, and always will be. As a core business practice, we as artist, dancers, choreographers will always have enough money, time and motivation to do this job without external funding and in full artistic freedom.
This is ENS in a nutshell.
